...grew up on a family ranching farm in Oklahoma. The Lalman family was much like the Alaska family show, "self sustaining" and "jack of all trades."
They raised crops for market and feed for their livestock. They grew their own fruits and vegetable for their self sustaining food stores and raised a variety of livestock for processing their meat. This required the equipment know on a ranching farm and the mechanics to repair machines or weld and build machinery parts. Life was never boring.
During his college years he was a focused student toward his chosen goal as an Optometrist, for his undergraduate studies he attended Eastern State College in Wilburton, OK., and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He then chose Southern College of Optometry in Memphis Tennessee, where he graduated with his Doctor's degree.
Upon returning to Oklahoma and passing the State Board, Gary began his private practice as an Optometric Physician with traditional medicine. Oklahoma was the first state to license Optemetric Physicians. This allowed him to write prescriptions, using medicine in diagnostic procedures and treatement, with hospital privileges. He was a leading Doctor in a unique eye care program for the Cherokee Indian Nation. He continued further Optometric college credits in 1990 at Tahlequah Northeastern State University College of Optometry and acquired an additional New Jersey license in 1991. Through those years Gary had already become an interested student of Iridology, the science of analysis of the body through delicate structures fo the iris in the eyes; attending LaDean Griffin Seminars for Iridology; a gifted author and seminar educator on Detoxification, Diet and Iridology.
The 80's and 90's also saw progressive Optometrists move into the field of Nutrition. There was another reason Gary learned all he could about Alternative health while maintaing his full time Optemetric practice. His wife, Margo, was chronically ill for years; having had multiple surgeries, two years of being bed ridden with complete bowel shutdown (atrophy) and Autoimmune issues with extreme pain. In his health quest for Margo, he trained with German Homeopaths, Medical Doctors, Chiropractors and Acupuncturists; and in modalitites as Iridilogy, Applied Kinesiology, Colon Hydrotherapy, Acupuncture and many more. He was in fact the one to pinpoint Margo's inflammatory conditions and the program to assist her on the road to recovery.
Gary left his O.D. practice to focus completely on an Alternative approach to Healthcare and began Quest For Wellness in 1999. He continues his education with testing technology and equipment, current research for Therapeutic Nutritional and educational seminars reserved for doctors and professional heathcare practitioners.
He enjoys working with Margo, now an Herbalist and Complimentary Care Therapist, in putting the pieces together for your customized health program, with an empathy that comes only from personal experience.
Gary P. Lalman, O.D.
Many diseases and their early effects show in the eyes before a person is aware of their condition. It was through the eyes that AIDS was isolated and diagnosed in the early 80's; and through the eyes that early stages can be determined. Gary attended a New York seminar where the doctor on those cases was a guest speaker and educator for Optometrists.
